Updated: Jul 3

Relationships can be a resource or else they can become a source of stress. We know that communication plays a big role in all relationships.

In this article, we give you some quick tips for improving different types of relationships and also for reducing the stress that can exist in these.

Tips for colleagues

  1. Know your company policies and follow these

It is best to err on the side of caution with colleagues.

  1. Know what acceptable behaviour is

Know what acceptable behaviour is, to protect your rights and to ensure you are not infringing on the rights of colleagues.

  1. Choose the right method and channel of communication

Perhaps a dispute is best solved formally through HR, or perhaps an informal chat is all that’s needed.

  1. Don’t eat lunch at your desk

Don’t eat lunch at your desk if colleagues are going to the canteen or getting food nearby. Lunch is a good time to bond, and as a bonus, getting away from your desk will allow you to recharge your batteries.

  1. Attend company social events

Do make an effort to attend company social events, like Christmas parties. Be friendly, but not overly familiar, and don’t drink to excess.
